Wasaw Food Services Inc., an Anishinaabe professional catering company, is strategically focused on helping the Rainy River District increase its knowledge and appetite for better quality, innovative and "valuable" food experience. Wasaw Food Services Inc. is incorporated with Couchiching First Nation as the sole shareholder. The individual Board of Directors are entrepreneurs and enterprise managers in private business in Couchiching. All companies are run under the umbrella of "Wasaw Enterprises".

Our mission is to provide our customers with the finest catering, with an Anishinaabe flair, for business events, socials, organizational meetings and other assorted parties. Our goal is to consistently meet and exceed our customer's needs in terms of quality of food and excellence of service.

Wasaw Food Services Inc. will inject new life into the area catering market, leveraging our staff's culinary skills to develop creative new catering options. Our staff's advanced skills, industry insight, coupled with many great market opportunities will allow Wasaw Food Services Inc. to achieve both service excellence and profitability.

We serve a wide variety of dishes in catering, offering a large menu repertoire as a benefit to our customers. Some of the menu offerings will be traditional and some more inventive meals will also be offered, to appeal to the higher end, more discriminating customers such as walleye / salmon terrine, lamb, wild mushroom risotto and smoked trout pate.

As well as providing unique and exquisite arrangements for high end clients and special dinner parties, we will cater parties of 25-300 people with affordable menus that are currently only available in Winnipeg, MB or Minneapolis, MN. An added option is home or office deliveries to clients who would like "ready to eat" catering for 10-14 people during the weekdays, with a 2-hour lead-time.

To best meet the needs of our clients, Wasaw Food Services Inc. has two primary pricing levels for our services, economical / affordable for Customers like budget conscious Service Organizations, and high-end to serve the District's Business Clients.

Our team at Wasaw Food Services brings a wealth of experience to the kitchen, allowing them to work cohesively. The Food Services staff has reached a milestone, proving itself to be beneficial to district businesses and organizations. As Wasaw Food Services continues their growth together the team will also introduce new foods to the menu. This will be done with the feedback of the customers that frequent food events and catering, as they are the people who will experience the menu offerings.

Management

 

Wasaw Food Services started out of necessity, when the Couchiching Bingo Palace's canteen was failing, a newborn Wasaw Food Services, Inc. came to revive the kitchen. At the same time, the kitchen at Heron Landing was required to stay open for already booked events when Wasaw Food Services came to life. Both of these kitchens are difficult to manage because of the low margins but Wasaw Food Services have been able to restrict waste and optimize the menu for higher margin foods.
